Caller ID Spoofing Gets OutlawedThanks to the House of Representatives passing the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010, Caller ID spoofing will be outlawed. Sure, you may prevent your number from being seen, but no more pretending that you’re calling from another phone:

It shall be unlawful for any person within the United States, in connection with any real time voice communications service, regard- less of the technology or network utilized, to cause any caller ID service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information, with the intent to defraud or deceive.

The bill hasn’t been written into law just yet—though the Senate has passed its version already—so hurry and get any prank calls out of the way now. [GPO via Ars Technica]

Kate Gosselin‘s lawyer is asking a judge to throw out Jon Gosselin‘s request for primary custody, arguing Jon’s legal docs are riddled with mistakes.

Kate Gosselin and Jon Gosselin

For starters — Kate’s lawyer, Mark Momjian, claims Jon went to the wrong court for child support.  Momjian raises other technical issues and wants the case tossed.

Momjian scoffs at Jon and his lawyer in legal docs, “There is no ‘Jon Gosselin’ exception to the Pennsylvania [law].”

Momjian tells TMZ the papers filed by Jon are “incoherent and filed by someone who clearly didn’t know what he was doing.”

Guy Rots in Jail for Starting Spam Campaign Against Judge – Email campaign

Last Updated on Friday, 9 April 2010 02:03 Written by Daisy Harley Friday, 9 April 2010 02:03

Guy Rots in Jail for Starting Spam Campaign Against JudgeMeet Kevin Trudeau. Kevin’s a nice guy—he’s an author, annoying product pitchman, renowned conman, and convicted felon—and he’s currently spending 30 days in jail for encouraging people to send emails to a federal judge. Turns out that’s illegal.

You see, Kevin—who’s also a radio and web personality—really wanted U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman to take his side in a civil lawsuit. So he begged people to email the man and cheer for his case. The judge got annoyed and saw to it that Kevin got charged with contempt as he was putting the court “under attack.”

Bravo, Judge Gettleman. Now can you jail all the people who keep sending me perverse emails? [Wired]
